चिकित्सा केंद्र
वनवासी समाज की सर्वाधिक मर्मान्तक पीड़ा यह है कि बीमारी की अवस्था में दूर-दूर तक चिकित्सा सेवा की कोई व्यवस्था नहीं होती है। अज्ञान एवं कुपोषण के कारण कुछ बीमारियों के व्यापक प्रभाव से यह वनवासी समाज ग्रसित रहता है। ऐसी परिस्थिति में या तो वह अंधविश्वास का शिकार होकर अपनी जमीन को गिरवी रखने के लिए बाध्य हो जाता है या फिर किसी पादरी के द्वारा दी जाने वाली एक गोली के बदले क्रॉस पहनकर धर्मांतरित हो जाता है। इस समस्या के समाधान हेतु राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ के द्वितीय सरसंघचालक परम पूजनीय श्री गुरुजी ने नागपुर से 1964 में वैद्य नारायण राव पुराणिक को जशपुर भेजा जिन्होंने वहां दवाई देना एवं मरीजों को देखना प्रारंभ किया। इसको हम कल्याण आश्रम में स्वास्थ्य सेवा का श्रीगणेश मान सकते हैं। शनै: शनै: सभी प्रांतों में सेवाभावी चिकित्सकों ने जाकर चिकित्सा केंद्रों के माध्यम से अपनी सेवाएं देनी प्रारंभ कर दी। प्रारंभ के चिकित्सकों ने व्यापक जनसंपर्क किया तथा उन्होंने मरीजों को देखने के साथ-साथ संगठन का कार्य भी किया।
मुख्य रूप से शुद्ध पीने के पानी की अनुपलब्धता और मौसमी बीमारियों के कारण वनवासी परेशान रहते हैं। उल्टी, दस्त, मलेरिया, खुजली, खून की कमी, वजन कम होना आदि बीमारियां वहां मुख्य रूप से पाई जाती हैं।कुपोषण जनित बीमारियां भी काफी मात्रा में पाई जाती है। रतौंधी, रिकेट्स, स्कर्वी आदि बीमारियां वनवासी समाज के अज्ञान एवं धनाभाव का प्रतिफल है।
कल्याण आश्रम द्वारा नि:शुल्क चिकित्सा केंद्र चलाए जा रहे हैं। कुछ केंद्र दैनिक रूप से चलते हैं तथा कहीं-कहीं साप्ताहिक रूप से उपकेंद्र भी चलाए जाते हैं।
कार्य का प्रभाव
चिकित्सा केंद्रों के माध्यम से कल्याण आश्रम ने वनवासी समाज के समक्ष सेवा और सहायता का हाथ बढ़ाया है। प्रारंभ में वनवासी हमारे केंद्रों पर आने से डरते थे। विभिन्न प्रकार की भ्रांतियां थी पर आज की स्थिति यह है कि जहां- जहां अपने केंद्र चलते हैं वहां बहुत भीड़ होती है। इस प्रकार पूरे वनवासी क्षेत्र में चिकित्सकों की नि:स्वार्थ सेवा के फलस्वरूप स्वास्थ्य के लिए जागरण का कार्य हुआ है। उनके स्वास्थ्य में अनुकूलता आई है।
पहले मलेरिया बुखार आने पर वनवासी के अज्ञान का लाभ उठाकर मिशनरी उसके 200-300 रुपए खर्च भी करवा देते थे एवं उसका धर्म परिवर्तन भी कर देते थे। अब प्रत्येक गांव में वनवासी जान गया है कि मलेरिया का उपाय कुनैन की गोलियां है और ये गोलियां भी अब उनके घर में उपलब्ध रहती है।
रक्तदान के बारे में जागृति आई है। वनवासी युवक स्वेच्छा से रक्तदान करने लगे हैं। एलोपैथिक औषधियों के साथ-साथ कुछ चिकित्सा केंद्रों पर होम्योपैथिक एवं आयुर्वेदिक दवाइयों का भी उपयोग किया जाता है।
कल्याण आश्रम की मान्यता है कि गांव में पाई जाने वाली समस्त बीमारियों के निदान के लिए प्रकृति मां ने निकटवर्ती क्षेत्रों में अनेक जड़ी-बूटी पैदा की है। ग्राम स्वास्थ्य योजना के अंतर्गत उनके उपयोग के योग्य प्रशिक्षण देकर घरेलू दवाइयों के उपयोग को प्रोत्साहन देना भी हमारी कल्पना है।
ग्रामवासियों को स्वच्छता एवं स्वास्थ्य के सामान्य नियमों की जानकारी भी इन चिकित्सा केंद्रों के माध्यम से दी जाती है।
हमारी कामना है कि कोई भी वनवासी चिकित्सा सुविधा से वंचित ना रहे। क्रोसिन की एक गोली के बदले उन्हें धर्म न बेचना पड़े। स्वास्थ्य के सामान्य नियमों का ज्ञान उन्हें हो और सामान्य औषधियां उनके घर पर ही उपलब्ध हो।
Medical Center
The biggest pain of the Vanvasi is that there is no system of medical service far and wide in the event of any illness. Due to ignorance and malnutrition, this Vanvasi society is affected by the widespread effects of some diseases. In such a situation, either the Vanvasi is forced to mortgage land by being a victim of superstition or even get converted by wearing a cross in exchange for a tablet given by a priest. To solve this problem, the second Sarsanghchalak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, His Holiness Shri Guruji sent Vaidya Narayan Rao Puranik from Nagpur to Jashpur in 1964, who started giving medicines and seeing patients there. This was the beginning of the health service in Kalyan Ashram. Gradually, in all the provinces, service-oriented doctors started giving their services through medical centers.
The Vanvasi struggle mainly due to non-availability of pure drinking water and from seasonal diseases. Vomiting, diarrhea, malaria, itching, anemia, weight loss, malnutrition-related diseases are common. Further, diseases like night blindness, rickets, scurvy etc. are also the result of ignorance and lack of wealth of the Vanvasi.
At present, free medical centers are being run by Kalyan Ashram pan India. Some centers run on a daily basis and sometimes sub centers are run on a weekly basis.
Effect Of Work
Through medical centers, Kalyan Ashram has extended a hand of service and help to the Vanvasi society. Initially they used to be afraid to come to our centers due to misconceptions but today’s situation is that wherever our centers go, there is a lot of crowd. In this way, due to the selfless service of doctors in the entire Vanvasi area, the Vanvasi health has improved along with health awareness.
The Vanvasi have started relying on medicines instead of exorcists in the disease by breaking the deep darkness of superstitions.
Taking advantage of the ignorance of the forest dweller, the missionaries used to make Vanvasi spend 200-300 rupees and convert their religion after even a malaria fever. Now the Vanvasi in every village has come to know that the remedy for malaria is quinine tablets and these pills are also available in their house now.
There has been an awareness about blood donation. The Vanvasi have started donating blood voluntarily.
Along with allopathic medicines, homeopathic and Ayurvedic medicines are also used in some medical centers.
The belief of Kalyan Ashram is that Mother Nature has created many herbs in the nearby areas to cure all the diseases found in the village. Accordingly the Vanvasi are being encouraged to use herb based medicines by giving them appropriate training under the ‘Village Health Scheme’.
Information about general rules of cleanliness and health is also given to the villagers through these medical centers.
It is our wish that no Vanvasi should be deprived of medical facilities. They did not have to sell religion for a dose of Crocin. They should have knowledge of general rules of health and common medicines should be available at their homes.
